Gerald "Jerry" Lee Harris of New Sewickley Twp. passed away September 24, 2017, surrounded by family.
Gerald was born August 22, 1932, in California, Pa., a son of the late Fred Harris and Olive B. (McCrory) Harris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry T. Harris; granddaughter, Hayley M. Hannan; sisters, Dora Nocta and Ellen Cheek; brothers, Russ Harris, Charles Harris, Fred Harris, Ralph Harris; son-in-law, Brant Evans; father-in-law, George Robinsky.
Gerald proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from Bell Atlantic after 35 years. Jerry also retired from CWA Local 13000 where he served as vice-president, Western Region. During his retirement, Jerry was a pole climbing instructor at Verizon. Jerry was an avid Steeler fan and enjoyed making woodcrafts, coffee, and reading the newspaper. He was a very giving person, always helping others.
Jerry expressed his love and devotion to his wife by taking her out to eat and bringing her chocolates.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Victoria L. Harris, the love and soulmate of his life; a son, Jonathon E. Harris; four daughters, Cheri Evans; Darleen Nagel and husband Dan; Penny Dolenak and husband Larry, and Lissa Hannan; grandchildren, Billy (Cristal), Christy, Tonya, Marc, Eric, Larry, Joe, P.J., and Joelle; great-grandchildren, Chantel, Noah, Hailey, Keegan, Bentley, Liam, and Maci; brother and sister-in-law, Edgar Harris and his wife, Shirley; mother-in-law, Paula McBride; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Georgeann and Larry Musgrave; sister-in-law, Melody Robinsky; brother-in-law, Scott Robinsky.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the DARROCH CREMATION AND FUNERAL TRIBUTES INC., 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, www.darrochfuneralhome.com, where prayers will be offered on Thursday at 10:45 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Baden, Pa.
The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to conduct full military honors.
