Lawrence Joseph Kempa, 65, of Center Twp., passed away on February 3rd, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver PA
He was born on April 15, 1951, in Yukon, PA and a member of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church where he was the director of facilities. Lawrence is a graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School and attended Duquesne University. He is a retired Postmaster of The U.S.P.S. He was also a member of the Lions Club, where he was the past District Governor of District 14N and past President of Ambridge Lions, as well as a member of N.A.P.U.S.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kempa; his father-in-law, Philip M. Kanfush Jr.; and a niece, Hanna Rae Ensworth.
He is survived by his wife, Denise (Kanfush) Kempa; his mother, Marie (Squarcia) Kempa; two sons, David J. (Lora) O’Neil of Charleroi, PA, and Brian P. (Ashley) O’Neil of Clinton, PA; a daughter, Meghan M. (Kurt) Morgan of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren, Tyler, Taryn, Landon, Anna Lisa, Sydney, and Kennedy; a brother, Gary (Rhonda) Kempa of Murrysville, PA; a mother-in-law, Elizabeth Kanfush of Center Twp.; a brother-in-law, Fr. Philip M. Kanfush O.S.B. of Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe PA; four sisters-in-law, Ladonna (James) Dmitsak of Center Twp., Monica (Kevin) Gorman of Medina, Ohio, Aileen (Kevin) McCullogh of Center Twp., and Michaleen (Scott) Ensworth of Beaver Falls; several nieces and nephews and several great- nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Monday February 6th and Tuesday February 7th from 1p-4p and 6p-8p on both days in the Darroch Memorial Chapel Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa PA 15001. www.darrochfuneralhome.com where closing prayers will be offered on Wednesday morning at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church with his brother-in-law Fr. Philip M. Kanfush O.S.B. and Fr. Martin Bartel O.S.B. officiating.
Internment to follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday evening at 5:45pm in the funeral home and The Lions Club also will conduct a service Tuesday evening at 6:30pm.
