Sandra Ann Stern

Sandra Ann Stern, 76, of Center Twp., passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, at UPMC Mercy Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on July 16, 1945, in New York, N.Y., the daughter of the late Gustav and Alma Ottenberg.

Sandy graduated from the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.  She worked her entire career as a Certified Orthoptist and Ophthalmic Technician in Beaver, P.A., for Dr. Henry C. Thel, Jr., and later for Dr. Daniel J. Nadler.  Travel was a favorite passion and she especially enjoyed romantic walks on beach getaways. 

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by a son, Steven Stern; and a sister, Agatha Sigley.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Stern, of Center Twp., P.A.; a son, Scott Stern, of Sewickley, P.A.; and a niece, Connie Sigley, of Virginia Beach, V.A.

She was a loving wife, mother, and devoted friend.  She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, March 24, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Darroch Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa, www.darrochfuneralhome.com, where departing prayers will take place on Friday at 11am followed by a graveside service at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Hookstown, P.A.
