Richard D. Lechman, age 89, of Center Township. passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Born July 27, 1935, in West Aliquippa, he was the son of the late Steve and Mary (Knizik) Lechman. Richard was a graduate of Aliquippa High School, and the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for six years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He worked for J&L Steel for more than 28 years serving as a supervisor in the Basic Oxygen Furnace and the Strand Caster. After retiring from J&L, he went on to work for the Foxboro Company as a Process Control Engineer for 15 years. Richard continued his passion for industrial process control by forming his own engineering firm, L&L Controls, where he worked for another 22 years. Richard was a member of Mary, Queen of Saints Parish-St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife Carla (Trone) Lechman, whom he married on June 10, 1961; loving father to two sons, Steve Lechman; and Eric Lechman and his wife Monika; and a cherished grandson, William Lechman.
Friends will be received for a memorial service on Thursday at 11am , at DARROCH CREMATION AND FUNERAL SERVICES, INC. 2640 Mill St, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
