Paul Frey Obituary

Paul N. Frey, 78, of Independence Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026 surrounded by the family he adored.

Paul left this world with peace and a heart full of faith.

Born in Baltimore on March 18, 1947, to George and Vivian Frey. A proud Geneva College graduate, he spent his career as a cornerstone of the local steel industry, from the floors of J&L Steel and Weirton Steel to his retirement as a consultant for Mitsubishi and Testa.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman for nearly 70 years and enjoyed being in nature while hunting and fishing.  He shared his passions through hunter safety courses and his service on the hunting and game commission.

Paul found happiness serving others. Whether he was responding to calls with the Independence V.F.D., greeting neighbors at the polls on election day, or serving as Chaplain for the Masonic Doric Lodge #630 in Sewickley, he was a constant face in the community.

At Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, Paul found his spiritual home, serving as a Deacon and a greeter whose smile was often the first thing people saw when they walked through the doors.

Paul is now reunited with his first wife, Mary Martha Frey, and his brother, Eric. His legacy lives on through his wife, Mary Ann Jesse; his children, Barbara (Nathaniel) Minnick, Laura (Christopher) Karwick, and Jason Frey; and his five grandchildren—Colin and Arden Karwick, Steven, Charlie, and Thomas Minnick.
