Mark Anthony Ciccarelli
November 19th, 1961 – July 29th, 2025
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed & very dear.”
Mark entered the gates of heaven peacefully in his home on July 29. He was 63 years young. Born in Aliquippa to Margaret & Frank Ciccarelli, he spent the majority of his life in the Pittsburgh area. He graduated from Center High School in 1980, and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Law from Penn State. WE ARE.
Continuing his education journey, Mark went to Law School at Duquense University and earned his Juris Doctorate in 1987. He went on to practice law in both Pennsylvania & Ohio; working in law firms around the Pittsburgh area, being a law clerk for Judge Bell in Washington County, and handling workmen’s compensation cases.
Besides law, Mark’s other passion lied in teaching & higher education. He truly was a lifelong learner, famous for saying “You can never stop learning.” That played true as he became the Director of Legal Studies at Kent State University- East Liverpool campus. While there, he earned his third degree with a Master’s in Business Management & Master’s in Public Management from Kent. His other roles in education included the Director of Mountain State University- Center Township, Director of Vocational Rehab at Eastern Gateway Community College, multiple roles teaching business & law at Penn State, Kent State, California University of Pennsylvania, and online courses for several universities.
After years of teaching- he decided to open us his own law firm in 2017. Ironically- it was in the same house he grew up in on McLean Street in Aliquippa. If that wasn’t enough- Mark also coached his son Eric’s baseball teams for nearly 10 years. He even wrote a letter to the Pittsburgh Pirates to install a batting cage at the Little League fields in Hopewell. He was the most determined, driven and self-less man, always doing things for others & finding time in his busy schedule to do so.
Mark is preceded in death by his infant son, John Mark (April 6th, 1994), his parents Frances & Margaret Ciccarelli & his father-in-law, Daniel Clements. He is survived by his devoted & loving wife, Lorraine & his beloved three children, Megan & Brent Paich (son-in-law), Nicole, Eric & his loyal fur companion, Winnie. Other family members include Mother-in-law, Susan Clements, sister & brother-in-laws, Denise & Daniel Clements, and his sister Lisa Hogan.
In his spare time, Mark loved going to Penguins & Pirates games, golfing, hanging at the cigar shop with his buddies, and spending quality time with his family & dogs. He made sure to take his family on countless vacations, no matter how busy life was. From going to Disney World & Disneyland, Las Vegas, Cedar Point, numerous beaches & everything in between- the cherished memories will last a lifetime. He passed on his love of rollercoasters & thrill rides to his kids-. Mark was the smartest man in the room, he knew a little about a lot, which made him an expert at knowing all the answers on Jeopardy and trivia games. He would kick everyone’s ass on song quiz- knowing every genre, artist & title spanning multiple generations of music.
Mark loved listening to classic tunes from Johnny Cash, Elvis and Frank Sinatra. He loved watching classics, like the Andy Griffith Show, Johnny Dollar & All in the Family, & basically every episode known to man of Law & Order & Shark Tank.
Mark will be profoundly missed. His strength, determination, humor, wit, vast knowledge & life advice will never be forgotten.
"There's no way around grief and loss: you can dodge all you want, but sooner or later you just have to go into it, through it, and, hopefully, come out the other side."
~ Johnny Cash
