Lois M. Wyke, 88, formerly of Raccoon Twp., passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
She was born on May 11, 1936, to the late Daniel E. and Mae Shivler Johnston.
Lois graduated from Aliquippa High School and Garfield Business School and went on to work at Workingmen’s Building and Loan in Aliquippa. After the birth of her children, she left her job to focus on being a homemaker. She was a long-time member of the Raccoon Twp. Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Later in life Lois became a deacon and sexton at North Branch Presbyterian Church. Her and her husband, Virgil, were also members of Air Heritage in Beaver Falls where she acted as secretary. They enjoyed flying in air shows and supporting the organization. Lois and Virgil will also be remembered for their apple butter that they took pride in making the old-fashioned way.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Virgil E. Wyke and her brother John (Anna) Johnston.
She is survived by her son Charles (Jessica) Wyke, of Economy Boro; and her daughter Linda (Christopher) Ridgway, of Baden, PA.
Friends will be received on Monday, August 12, from 4-8pm at Darroch Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa. A funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday. August 13, at 11am in North Branch Presbyterian Church, 139 North Branch Road, Monaca, PA 15061. Please meet at church. Interment to follow in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Air Heritage Museum, 35 Piper Street, Beaver Falls, PA 15010, or to North Branch Presbyterian Church, 139 North Branch Road, Monaca, PA 15061.
Special thanks to her caregivers and staff at Concordia of Franklin Park for taking such good care of her in her last few years.
