Joseph Ross, Sr., 96, of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
He was born on September 18, 1929 in West Aliquippa, a son of the late Anthony and Maria (Taddeo) Ross. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and he was retired from J&L Steel Corp. Joe was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ. He made 15 missionary trips to Africa, visiting the nations of Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Cameroon. He also made trips to England, Germany, Italy, and Netherlands and seven trips to Mexico and seven trips to Canada. In addition, Joe held several offices in the local Church of Jesus Christ and it’s Auxiliary organizations. Joe felt it was a privilege to serve the Church. His wife Constance supported him faithfully and wholeheartedly when he was gone and away from home on his church activities. She kept the home fires burning even when there were problems.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Ross; two brothers, John Ross and Feo Rossi; and two sisters, Elizabeth DeFelice and Antoinette Spinale.
He is survived by three children, Joseph A. Ross, Jr. (Karen Howell); Karen Renee Seltz (Richard); and John Jared Ross (Gina Lutz); two grandchildren, Richard Michael Seltz, Jr.(Holly) and Robert John Seltz; and a great granddaughter, Adrianne Constance Seltz. He is also survived by several nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 1-3pm and 5-7pm in Darroch Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.om
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10am in the Church of Jesus Christ, 4 Ross Drive, Aliquippa.
Private interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery.
