John Sylvan Pettibon passed away peacefully on September 14th at Beaver Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born in Rochester, he was the last child of the late P.Alvin and Kathryn (Brunner) Pettibon. John was a 1948 graduate of Aliquippa High School.
During school and after graduation, John worked at Drinkmore Dairy that the Pettibon family operated in Aliquippa. At the onset of the Korean Conflict, he joined the Air Force and proudly served for four years. He then attended Vale Tech where he learned autobody repair. After leaving the Air Force, John started his own business, which would eventually become Pettibon's Auto Body, which he successfully operated until retiring in 1996. John was an active member of the Hopewell Lions Club for 29 years. John was an avid animal lover and leaves behind beloved pets Abbey and Cora.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 66 years Donna (Creese) Pettibon, a brother Thomas Pettibon, sisters Doris(Emlyn) Charles, Jayne(Louis) Smith and Marjorie(Joseph) Keefer, and a nephew, Michael Smith
Surviving are his daughter Wendy Pettibon Rapp, and son David, a grandson Zachary Rapp, all of Hopewell and a granddaughter Haley (Dalton) Mahle of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by 4 cherished nieces and 7 beloved nephews, including a special niece whom he treated as a second daughter, Tracey Moses and her children, Tommy and Trey.
