Obituary

Janet C. Gibson, 80, of Hopewell Twp. passed away on March 5, 2023.

She was born December 19, 1942 in Beaver Falls, PA, daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine (DeLuca) Ross and she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Aliquippa where she served as an ordained Deaconess for 25 years.

Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Paul Gibson, along with nephew Jared Ross as well as her parents, Tom and Josephine Ross.

She is survived by her daughter Heather Moyer and husband Robert; her son Brett Gibson and wife, Julie; and her grandchildren, Grace and Calvin Gibson. Along with brother, Donald (Joyce) Ross; sister, Sharon (Ken) Staley; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Gibson. She was loved by her nieces and nephews, Suzette Ross, Jason Ross, Janette Ross, Cameron (Jennifer) Staley, Jameson (Chelsea) Staley, Jason Gibson, Tim Gibson, David (Marina) Gibson, Earleen (Tom) Hunt, Brian (Kathy) Gibson and Sandra (John) Carlin.

Janet loved to be in the kitchen; cooking, baking and opening her home to visitors. She paid great attention to detail and was highly organized. She was well known for her beautiful penmanship and calligraphy. She served in various capacities for her Church including: secretary for the Aliquippa Branch, Ladies’ Uplift Circle and Sunday School, Aliquippa Branch Historian and Sunday School Treasurer. She worked for many years as a bank teller, an administrative assistant for Hills Department Stores. She owned and operated “Blossoms and Blooms” her silk-floral business, and ultimately retired from Gateway Rehabilitation Center. 

Her demeanor was always pleasant and optimistic, maintaining a positive outlook in most any situation. She took a genuine interest in others’ lives and families, leaving a lasting impression on everyone with whom she came in contact. Even in her final days she lovingly connected to many of her caregivers.

Friends will be received on Friday, March 10 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM in the Darroch Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 11 at The Church of Jesus Christ. She will lie in state from 10-11 AM with services beginning at 11 AM.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to:  Ladies’ Uplift Circle, Aliquippa chapter of The Church of Jesus Christ, 4 Ross Drive, Aliquippa PA 15001.  

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
