George F. Bland, Sr.

George F. Bland, Sr., 75, of Center Twp., passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019.

He was born on April 16, 1944 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late James and Gertrude (Cochran) Bland.  He worked at J&L Steel Corp. and he retired from WCI Steel in Warren, OH where he worked as a millwright.  He also served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.  George was an officer in the Center Twp. V.F.W. Post 1821.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Jones)  Bland.

George is survived by a son, George Bland, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Donald Anthony; and his life partner, Arlene Gromo.  He is also survived by many cousins.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in Darroch Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com where a funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11am.

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the cemetery on Wednesday at 11:45am to conduct full military honors.
