Dolores “Mickey” Colella, known for her kind, loving, and caring, personality, passed away on Jan 27, 2026, surrounded by her family Born in Pittsburgh on June 2, 1931, Dolores lived a life filled with compassion and service towards others.
After graduating from Aliquippa High School, Dolores went on to earn her bachelors in education from University of Pittsburgh and then returned to Hopewell High School to teach business. Although she only taught for 7 years, many of her students became her closest, lifelong friends, especially the Class of ’55 for which she served as sponsor.
A loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, Dolores dedicated her life to her family. She loved unconditionally, sacrificed willingly, and her kindness cannot be measured. We are forever grateful for the positive impact that she has had on our lives and the lives of those around her, and she will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Mary Berkovich, step father, John Berkovich, and her husband, Joseph Colella. She is survived by her sons Joe and Mark (Lori) Colella, and grandchildren Joey and Luke, Marcus (Lindsey) and Lauren Colella.
A special thanks to the staff at RoseCrest assisted living community in Mars for taking such good care of her these past few years. Dolores continued her kind gestures there as well, often leading patients back to their rooms, taking the time to listen and ask the nurses and aids about their lives, and always offering a piece of chocolate or other treat to anyone who entered her room. In so doing, she developed some special friendships especially among the staff.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 11am until the time of Blessing Service at 1pm in Darroch Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com
Private interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
