Brenda Joy Onufryk

Brenda Joy Onufryk, 69, formerly of Hopewell Township, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

She was born on May 25, 1954 in Aliquippa, a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Betty F. (Schnavely) Shockey. 

Brenda was a graduate of the Hopewell class of 1972, and a longtime resident of West Aliquippa. She was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church where she served as an organist. She started her career in banking with the Beaver Trust Company and retired as an underwriter for Huntington Bank, after 43 years of employment with the company. 

Brenda loved to play the piano and enjoyed the performing arts. She was an exceptionally gifted seamstress and loved to sew costumes with her daughter.  Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and being at Disney World with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Dan P. Onufryk; three children, Julie Ann Yate, Richard (Toni) Yates, and Donald (Kara) Yates, Tracy Dellorso; six grandchildren, Lucy; Luca; Danny; Noah; Zac; and Britney; a brother, Brent (Sandy) Shockey; two sisters, Karen (Gregg) Maurer; and Joanne (Joe) Herda; a sister-in-law, Marian (Doug Caferelli) Kutzner; multiple nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Darroch Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com.

A final public funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 12:00 pm, at New Life Presbyterian Church, 2795 Patterson Drive, Aliquippa. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH.
