Ronald Holmes Obituary

Ronald L. W. Holmes, 87, of Aliquippa, Pa went to be with his Lord on Oct 3rd, 2022, as a result of heart failure. Ron was born on March 3, 1935, in Vancouver, BC Canada to Jean and Pete Holmes. He was an only child. He was always a curious boy and the world was his laboratory! He developed a love for cars and took apart his first car at 15 and put it back together. He graduated as a metallurgical engineer from the University of British Columbia. Ron met his beautiful and faithful wife, Maxine, at University and they were blessed with 65 years of marriage. Ron and Maxine moved to the states soon after graduation where Ron pursued a successful career in steel making and received recognition for patents and several publications he contributed to his field. Ron’s work ethic and intellect were skills that improved the steel we use and depend on today. His reputation as an innovator was well known and respected in his field. In 1976 Ron and Maxine celebrated becoming USA citizens. Ron retired in Center Township and was an active member at St. Stephen’s Church in Sewickley, Pa. He happily served his church as a Roy’s Boy. Ron was the proud father of three children, Peter Holmes married to Susan, Keith Holmes married to Marcella, and Kimberley Holmes Flickinger. He loved and enjoyed his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Eryn, Hannah (Joseph), Reed, Henry, Trudy, Jed (Emily), Emma, Kyler, Elijah, Abel, and Elsie. We are grateful for who God made him and his faithfulness to his call as a husband, father, engineer and believer. We rejoice that Ron is with Jesus and he is free from all sickness, brokenness, pain and sorrow! He is singing and dancing before the Throne.

All are invited to a Celebration of Life service at St. Stephen's Church on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022 at 10:00am. 405 Frederick Ave., Sewickley, PA 15143.
