Joseph Owen Yesh, 88, of Brookville, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
He was born on July 19, 1935 in Aliquippa a son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Kenney) Yesh. Joe attended St. Titus Grade School in Aliquippa, Saint Veronica High School in Ambridge and Garfield Business Institute in Beaver Falls. He earned an Associate Degree in Accounting and Business Law from Indiana University in Blooming, IN. He worked 35 years in the Healthcare Field which included employment at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, PA; Indiana Hospital, Indiana, PA; Sharon General Hospital, Sharon, PA; Windber Hospital, Windber, PA; Grove City Hospital, Grove City, PA; Punxsutawney Area Hospital, Punxsutawney, PA and Blue Cross – Highmark, Pittsburgh, PA.
His military service included 4 years in the U.S. Navy; two years at Fort Hancock Army Base assigned to Harbor Defense Facility at Highlands, New Jersey and two years on board the USS Chester T. O’Brien, DE 421, in Key West, Florida.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his former wife, Elsie Jane Yesh.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Jean Yesh; 5 children, Joseph Owen Yesh; Monica Marie Salle; Mary Jane Yesh; Marjorie Ann Thompson; and Christine Marie Smith. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 9am until the time of departing prayers at 11am in Darroch Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30am in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
