Verna M. Young

Verna M. Young, 90, of Aliquippa, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015.

She was born on April 3, 1920 in Houston, PA a daughter of the late Guy and Flora (Lescalette) Cornell and she was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.  Verna was retired from J&L Steel Corp, where she worked in the tin mill for 30 years.  She was also a member of the Circle of Friends and SOAR.

In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Michael F. Young; her son, Gordon Young; and three brothers and seven sisters.

She is survived by five grandchildren, Jodi Oxendine; Tracy (Klint) Simmel; Beth (Sam) Lentini; Amy (Roberto) Young; and Scott (Christina) Young; ten great grandchildren, Cassie  and Shane Oxendine; Kennedy and Karley Simmel; Sydney and Sophia Lentini; Marysa Young; Avalynn Spears; Alexa and Ian Young; a daughter-in-law, Doris Young; a brother-in-law, Vince (Nancy) Zaccaria; and a sister-in-law, Bessie Block.  She is also survived  by several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com where prayers will be offered on Friday at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Titus Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
