John L. “Jack” Hennessy Sr., 87, of Center Twp., Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Villa Saint Joseph of Baden.

He was born on November 6, 1928 in Rochester, Pennsylvania, and was the son of the late Joseph and Borremea (Smith) Hennessy. John retired from LTV Steel B.O.F and was also a member of Saint Titus Catholic Church, and C.I.O. Local 1211. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Jolly) Hennessy; a son, John L. Hennessy Jr.; a daughter, Susan Hennessy Marcum; a brother, Joseph Hennessy; and a granddaughter, Stacey L. Tovey.

He is survived by three  sons and daughter-in-law’s; James V. and Susan Hennessy of Freedom, William P. Hennessy of Center Twp., and Robert R. and Denise Hennessy of Raccoon Twp.;  two daughters; Myrna Hennessy of Center Twp., and Shirley Hennessy of Hopewell Twp., a son-in-law; Charles (Ki) Marcum of Florida; a daughter-in-law; Melissa Hennessy of Aliquippa; nine grandchildren; J.J (Jeanne) Hennessy, Aaron (Megan) Roesing, Nathan (Deanna) Roesing, John (Heather) Hennessy, Kayla V. Hennessy, Gregory Hennessy, Shirley  V. and Devin Hennessy, and Christy Hill; seven great-grandchildren; Cole, Jett, and Milania Roesing, Conner Roesing, Hayden Hennessy and Benny, Lacey and Addyson Hennessy; and a special friend, Jackie Wood

Jack’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Fontbonne neighborhood at Villa of St. Joseph for the compassionate care and love that they showed  for their father during his time there.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fontbonne activities fund at Villa of St. Joseph, 1030 W State St, Baden, PA 15005

Friends will be received on Wednesday  from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm  in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa, PA 15001. www.darrochfuneralhome.com where prayers will be offered on Thursday  at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am  in St. Titus Catholic Church.

 

Internment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
