George A. Batvinskas

March 3, 1922 ~ August 27, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

George A. Batvinskas, 95, of Aliquippa passed away peacefully at home with his loving family on Sunday, August 27, 2017.

He was born in Pittsburgh on March 3, 1922 a son of the late Mary and Joseph Batvinskas.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Batvinskas; two sisters, Ann Schultz; and Eleanor Batvinskas.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, June (Sampson) Batvinskas; two devoted daughters, Carol Batvinskas, Aliquippa; and Arlene Patton, Debary, FL; beloved grandchildren, Philip G. Patton and his wife Karen Patton, Moon Twp.; Rochelle Patton, Florida; a precious great granddaughter, Ava Faith Patton, Moon Twp.; also survived by a dear sister-in-law, Mayvon Candelmo, Hopewell Twp.; a special nephew, Paul and wife Gina Batvinskas, Clinton, PA.  For all their kindness, it will always be appreciated.  There are several god-children, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews he was blessed with.

Our family would like to thank Dr. James Tatum, Rev. Michael Polosky, Catholic Hospice of Sewickley, PA and staff, all the private nurses for their compassionate and spiritual care.

George was an avid golfer who played until he was 90 years old.  He belonged to Black Hawk Golf Course for many years.  He was a member of the American Legion.  He retired from J&L Steel Corporation after 47 years.  He was a veteran of WWII, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.  He was a long time member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church in Aliquippa.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2pm to 6pm in Darroch Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com Funeral services will begin on Friday at 10am at Darroch’s with Divine Liturgy at 10:30am at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2001 Main Street, Aliquippa with Father Michael Polosky.

Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

We all love and will miss you so dearly.

Parastas will be on Thursday at 2pm in the funeral home.

The Beaver County Special Unit will meet on Friday at 12pm at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery to conduct full military honors.
