David Stephen FathApril 15, 1948 ~ April 9, 2017 (age 68)
On April 9th 2017 one of the Beaver Valley’s most accomplished musicians, David Stephen Fath, passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was born on April 15th 1948 in Rochester, PA to Mildred Francek and David Summerville Fath.
Mr. Fath graduated from Monaca High School. He went on to earn a degree in music from Duquesne University. He returned to Monaca School District where he shared his passion for music and helped countless students develop their own musical abilities. He also worked as a dedicated elementary teacher in the district for 35 years. He was a member of the Monaca Education Association, PA State Education Association and National Education Association.
Mr. Fath played every instrument in the woodwind family. He loved playing a range of musical styles from Jazz and Big Band to Celtic or even Polka. Mr. Fath was inducted into the Beaver Valley Musician’s Hall of Fame in 2006.
Outside of music, he enjoyed playing golf, especially with his son and playing tennis with his daughter. Mr. Fath and his wife shared a love of the arts, spending many Saturday afternoons at plays and musicals in Pittsburgh. They also traveled together extensively.
He is survived by his loving wife, Claudia Darroch Fath, of 36 years. He is also survived by his daughter Megan Marie Fath of Raccoon Twp. and his son, David Leo Fath of Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Fath is also survived by sister in-law Dorothy Darroch, brother and sister in-law Ken and Pam Darroch and nephews Regis Leger and Ian Darroch.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com where a Blessing Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM with Father Howard Campbell.
Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Donations in Mr. Fath’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Fatima School in Hopewell.
