Carl Joseph Davidson

September 11, 1922 ~ May 9, 2015 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Carl Joseph Davidson, 92, of Hopewell Township, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver, Pa, following a brief but fatal battle with cancer and stroke. He was lovingly surrounded in his last days with his children and grandchildren.

Carl was born in 1922 at Five Points, in Hopewell, to Howard C Davidson (d.1937) and Emma Marie Finzel (d.1984). He finished the eighth grade at Gringo elementary school, and began working in the Davidson garage at Five Points on the death of his father. He continued there as an expert auto and truck mechanic for more than 60 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Davidson (Williams), a previous spouse, Lolita Pinti (Mann), an older sister and brother and their spouses, Florence C. Denny (Louis) and John T. Davidson (Betty Gillooly), and a son-in-law, Robert Lawrence. His Davidson ancestors were among the earliest settlers of Beaver County, with the Davidson Heights area and many streets bearing their name.

He is survived by his four children, Carl A. Davidson (Alynne), Howard J. Davidson (Clare), Bona Lawrence, and James R. Davidson (Debi), nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

In World War Two, he served in the US Navy on the, USS Mindanao, a repair ship that took part in many battles in the South Pacific. Carl was also a championship bowler, a fan of horse races and many sports. In his youth, he played shortstop for the South Heights, PA baseball team.

He was a devout Roman Catholic and member of St. Catherine of Sienna parish, Crescent, PA. Per Carl’s request, there will be no public visitation.  All friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11am  at St. Catherine of Sienna. His family is grateful for the kind, gentle and competent care of the nurses, doctors and staff of Sewickley Hospital, West Hills Rehab Center and the Good Samaritan Hospice of Beaver.
